Porcelain Veneers

When you require a porcelain veneer we will provide you with a top-quality long-lasting aesthetics.  Porcelain veneers are customised hand-made tooth-coloured thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth.  They are usually used to improve aesthetics of the front teeth and require minimal tooth-preparation to provide the possibility for you to choose the shape and colour of your teeth. Porcelain veneers feel and look like your teeth and are resistant to staining over time compared to composite veneers.

Porcelain veneers are often used to restore damaged or discoloured teeth and are used only if the underlying tooth is strong and healthy.  When there is little healthy tooth remaining a dental crown may be more appropriate.

What's the process of getting veneers?

The process of having veneers are to firstly have the teeth checked to ensure that they are healthy, professionally cleaned and free of decay or defective fillings.  Then a customised aesthetic work-up process is built up for you.  Moulds are taken of the teeth so that we have the exact replica of how your teeth are shaped and positioned.  We then ask our dental technician to spend a considerable time to build up wax on the replica of your teeth to a shape, size and position that is aesthetically pleasing and biologically sustainable.  If you've seen the beautiful wax sculptures at Madame Tussauds wax museum, what we work with is like that but on a microscopic dental level to create the look that you'd like.  The next step is where we try this wax-up in your mouth so that we can verify how the end result may look next to your lips, the adjacent teeth, your eyes and the overall aesthetics.  After this extensive work-up, which takes some time, we then decide on how the final result should look and also most-importantly how much tooth structure would need to be reduced to achieve the result.  Often very little.
